His hand easily accepted hers and he let his eyes fall shut at her soft request. There was never any hesitance in trusting her, especially in this. Poe's experience in the Force was primarily confined to all the stories his parents told him about Luke, and just general knowledge about the Force. After all, never in his wildest dreams would he have imagined he might need to really know anything about it. Certainly not enough to use it.
With his eyes closed and his focus on her, everything else just sort of fell away. He let out a slow breath, squeezing her hand in return and gently holding on. It all felt so surreal and yet, not.
"Yes. That's what I've felt. Like something was awake. Something I never knew was there. I've never doubted the light and I've always had hope, faith that doing the right thing was enough. But..."
Poe swallowed, his hand squeezing hers a little tighter. "I've felt the dark too. In my nightmares. I felt it when I was captured." He fights to keep his voice steady, to focus on Rey and how calm she is, and how right things felt between them. "I didn't feel it during the mission. I just felt... a need to protect. To make sure my squad came back safe. To make sure I came back safe to you."
