[ For once in her life, she’s not late. In fact, she’d arrived a little early to steal one of his flight suits and slip into it, climbing out onto the left wing and perching on it as she waits for him to arrive. ]
look at me taking a million years to get back to this -.-
[ Poe doesn't know what he's expecting -- well, he usually doesn't have an expectation other than Lois and her endearing, strangely addictive personality, which is plenty since the two of them have proven they don't need anything but themselves to have a good time -- but what he finds when he shows up at the hangar still surprises him. ]
Hey.
[ Yep, that's all he's got at first. Picturing her in his flight suit wasn't a thing his mind had conjured up yet and he's pretty sure if it tried now it couldn't do better than the reality. ]
[ It's a little too satisfying, that look on his face when he sees her. Worth the effort of sneaking into the hangar early and scrambling out onto his X-Wing, which hadn't exactly been the sexiest of feats.
His flight suit's baggy on her and she hadn't put forth the effort of getting it zipped and strapped on all the way, but from the way he's looking at her she's thinking she might be pulling it off.
She shrugs innocently, toying with the helmet in her lap. ]
Got kind of cold, waiting for your jacket.
<3 with all the angst i think they could use this right now
I, uh, yeah. Imagine you would have been. Kind of cold. [ His eyes are following the path of her exposed skin against the zipper of the flight suit and it's not difficult to guess she didn't have anything on underneath. Which made sense, Poe had suggested her only wearing his jacket, but. Somehow he hadn't thought she would just be in the hangar naked.
Was it hot in there? He's feeling a bit warm. ]
Let me come on up there, see if I can't help keep you warm.
[ Poe reluctantly tears his eyes away from her to walk over and climb on up onto his X-Wing. It was a little strange, with the hangar so quiet, but it was nice too. Peaceful. ]
Still want my jacket? [ He asks once he gets up there, moving to shrug out of it. ]
[ She's trying hard not to grin like an idiot as his eyes graze over her. That disarming hunger in his eyes, the way the crook of his mouth hooks up a bit and his eyes darken. It's a look she's just starting to get used to - a look she didn't know she'd start to crave so often.
She chews on the inside of her lip as she watches him climb the ladder to join her. The hangar's huge and honestly colder than she'd actually anticipated, but with him drawing closer now she's finding it harder to focus on her surroundings. ]
Maybe later.
[ She smiles, reaching out to place his hands on the zipper that's stopped just a little above her stomach. ]
[ He doesn't even try not to grin at the message that comes in next. But rather than send a reply he just gets up and walks over to open the door, the grin lingering on his lips when he sees Jane there. ]
I hope this isn't just an elaborate set-up for one of your 'knock knock' jokes.
[ Tucking her device and her hands into her pockets, Jane rocks on her heels, suddenly a little shy. Which isn't a side of her one sees too often, since she's equal parts Organa fire and Solo bravado, and is almost always operating in that mode. Especially in front of other people. ]
[ Poe cants his head slightly. Normally he'd tease but with the surprising dash of shyness he thinks he catches from her, he doesn't want a tease to get taken the wrong way. ]
Nah. That would mean I'd be disappointed to see you.
[ He flashes one of his warm smiles and steps back so she can come in if she wants. ]
[ Of course she's coming in. Maybe even a little too hastily? She doesn't want to lose her nerve, okay. Technically it's not her first time in his room but it's kind of different when you're intending to do, well, something. (Stars, even just in her head that sounds so weird.)
So as not to make things weirder, she makes an attempt at their usual banter. ]
Sweet-talker. [ She grins teasingly. ] Do you say that to all the ladies, Dameron, or just to me?
I have my moments. [ He returns her grin, hands slipping into the pockets of his jacket more out of habit than anything else. ] The next time I talk to a lady I'll have to see if that's what comes out.
I’d volunteer to be your wingman next time, but since we’ve started being honest with each other I think you’ll understand if I don’t want to. Unless, you know— [ She shrugs. ] —being the wingman means getting all the action afterwards.
[ She tries to appear cool and nonchalant, but the twinkle in her eyes gives her away. ]
[ That makes Jane laugh softly. ] I’m not gonna stop you if you want to get cozy with other ladies, I’m just not going to torture myself willingly, you know?
[ Besides, it’s not like they’re dating or anything? Although it also doesn’t mean she’s not loyal to him. ]
Of course, of course. Though if we were hanging out somewhere together it would be pretty rude of me to go get cozy with anyone else. [ Whether he means in general or if they were there 'together' is up for debate. ]
And you’re anything but rude. Well, reckless, maybe. Occasionally. [ Though she might as well be describing herself.
Absent-mindedly, she reaches to straighten the collar of his jacket. Then she catches herself, although she resists the urge to abruptly pull away, not wanting to make things awkward. But she ducks her head slightly, averting her eyes to her hand as it comes to rest on his chest.
Don’t make it weird! she all but screams mentally at herself. Because, really, it’s not like this is the first time she’s flirted with anyone. ]
Exactly. Though I'm not the only reckless one here.
[ Poe grins as he teases her, though it softens into a smile when she reaches out and seems to change her mind about something, at least if the way she suddenly doesn't look at him is anything to go by. He's no empath, not by a long shot, but he likes to think he's pretty decent at reading people. At least part of the time.
Rather than say or do anything about her light touch, he reaches out himself, tucking a stray strand of hair behind her ear. Only fair, right? ]
Is this a time to be reckless? [ There's something gently playful in his tone. It weirdly feels like they're treading on thin ice, despite all that's been mentioned is making out. But then, she is the General's daughter... ]
[ Jane can't help but laugh. Sure, while those in the Resistance know her as the General's daughter, she hardly acts like Leia, but more like her hotshot pilot of a father instead. Not that it's stopped everyone else from treating her like she's untouchable, anyway, which has really been miffing her, because she's a people-person and she doesn't like it when they stand on ceremony around her.
Case in point: this... whatever-it-is thing with Poe.
Her cheeks flush at his touch, but his tone and words make her look back up, and for a moment it almost feels like she can't breathe.
Then, she teases: ] Why, is this a bad time? Should I come back tomorrow?
