For some reason it was the simplest things that had a way of going wrong. Although the fact they had to go through smugglers just to get basic supplies probably meant it really wasn't so simple. But that was how Poe always regarded supply runs; just a simple pick up and return to base. Nothing flashy or dangerous about them. Usually.
At least they had enough luck that it wasn't First Order goons bringing the trouble down on them. Just regular ol' criminals who apparently took issue with 'dirty rebels' doing business in their town. Poe might have let it go if they were in a position where they could arrange a drop with someone else but thanks to the First Order most of their allies were either dead or too scared to even acknowledge them. Supplies were more precious than credits or ammo at the moment. He wasn't about to leave that planet without what they paid for.
Nearly sixteen hours after the time the team was supposed to have returned Poe was landing their ship back at the base. They were a little worse for wear but nothing that rest and basic medical couldn't take care of, thankfully. As he moved to help unload the ship it was difficult to keep his mind focused, his thoughts wanting to drift to Rey. Being able to talk to her had helped some with stress but as soon as they'd had to break contact it returned, settling in his chest like a cold stone. While it was lessening now that he and the team returned safely with their cargo, he knew it was only a matter of time before some new stressor took its place. He never looked it though, couldn't, not when everywhere he went he felt like eyes were always on him.
Poe felt her before he saw her. That was happening more often too, having some sense of when Rey was near. He assumed it was because of the Force, though he had no idea if it was due to how much time they had been spending together or her power or his, or all of the above.
Once he saw her, all he wanted to do was go to her. And that was a new feeling for him too but it had nothing to do with the Force.
Still carrying in supply crates, he flashed Rey one of his 'everything's fine' smiles, as if it might distract from the abrasion near his temple or the cut in the arm of his jacket from a vibroblade, both of which he'd purposely failed to mention when they were talking earlier. It wasn't as if it would have had any purpose other than to worry her when he was sure she already was, even if she didn't say it. Poe understood; he would have felt the same.

"I'll stay close." he softly assured her. "I'll hold you all night if you'd like."
Poe pulled back just enough to kiss her temple and he gave her a small but warm smile. "Come on, no need for us to hang around here. It certainly wouldn't make a very comfortable spot to sleep." he joked. He doubted either of them would sleep soon but getting more comfortable -- and seeking privacy -- would help the both of them to unwind.

"That's a very lovely offer I'm not about to refuse "
She laughed at his tease lightly as they broke the warm embrace, her body already missing him pressed strong and firm against her. "I even think you deserve sleeping in", she grinned as she took one last look at his injury. She could doctor up the rest once they were alone. She fought back the urge to slip her hand within his own as they made their way back to the bunking area, they were still in eye sight and Rey thought it best not to risk any chances for the sake of them both.
The hallway that led to their destination was thankfully empty and silent as they walked towards Rey's bunking area. It made it easier for Poe to slip inside without any kind of questions being asked, which put them both at ease.
"You can get settled on the bed, I'm sure your exhausted", she said as they both entered the small room. "I need to check over any other injuries you may have, go ahead and take off your shirt."
It would be easier for her to clean them.

He, too, found himself fighting the urge to take Rey's hand as they walked. Such a simple little action but sometimes the simplest things could spark the most warmth. The little touches, or innocent kisses, or soft looks.
Poe behaved and kept his hands to himself, and sighed lightly in relief that no one was around to notice him following Rey in her room. Once they had privacy he found it easy to relax, tossing his jacket over a chair. He lifted a brow at the way she gave him instruction and he didn't try to stop a little grin. "Yes, ma'am." Unbuttoning his shirt, he put it with his jacket before perching on the side of her bed. The cut on his arm wasn't bleeding but it could certainly use a bandage in case he moved too much and started it bleeding again. He barely felt the pain though, his attention on Rey.

Thankfully she had supplies left over from her own personal medical kit in which she was roaming through as Poe did as he was asked. Dark eyes softly fell along the beautiful body before her, a body that she was starting to learn rather well and one that still made her flustered. Poe's chest was so perfectly sculpted, muscles well defined and it was very difficult for Rey not to run her nails down it hungrily.
Those deep eyes that watched her every movement wasn't helping her urge to touch, squeeze and feel but she kept herself restrained. She gently cleaned the cut along his arm, it was a bit deep but she made sure to clean it properly before wrapping it.
"I'll need to check it in the morning", she told him softly as her dark eyes locked with his, her own painted with deep affection and lust. "There were times I could have sworn I felt you while your were away, it was only for a brief moment", she whispered as she moved to brush her lips along his shoulder. Her hand moved to slowly glide up that chest she had been yearning to touch again from nights on end, fingers cupped the back of his neck all while her lips moved to his ear, her teeth brushing along his earlobe.
"I missed you..."
